Spot description
Xylokastro lies on the Gulf of Corinth and is an exposed chop and wave spot in west to northwest winds. Waves and currents grow with wind strength, making conditions demanding. The pebbly beach does not offer uniform access everywhere. Check swimming activity, nearshore currents and a safe exit before launching.
More spot information
West and northwest are the best directions; the exposed location makes the spot rideable in these winds.
Depending on wind strength, water ranges from chop and small waves to medium surf. The beach consists of sand and pebbles.
The preferred launch lies by Hotel Navarino on the coast of Xylokastro. Other access points are possible along the long beach; seek local information about currents and exits before rigging.
There is a café right on the water at the Hotel Navarino launch. The long coastal section offers other accommodation; the nearest campsite to the west is farther away near Akrata.
West wind is side-onshore and can generate strong waves and currents. Ensure a safe return and exit; ask about local conditions before launching. Unsuitable for beginners in strong wind or waves.
