Spot description
Magganos near Vatika offers a gently sloping sandy beach. North wind can keep the windsurfing area relatively smooth; west and southwest wind can bring waves to other beach sections. Windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions therefore differ. The launch is unsuitable in strong east or south wind.
More spot information
For windsurfing, the source dataset gives northeast as best, with east and south-southeast as additional main directions. For kitesurfing, west, southwest and north are also described as suitable; these have been added to the main directional marker. East and south are unfavourable in strong wind. The Meltemi blows in summer; exact local strength varies.
In north wind, the windsurfing water ranges from flat to choppy. Waves are described for the kite-suitable west and southwest directions. This sport-specific distinction is explained in the text because the conditions database does not store a sport for each water state.
On the Vatika coast in Laconia near Pavlopetri; access via the local coast road.
Currents can occur in strong wind. Avoid strong south or east wind; the riding course may run along the coast.
