Spot description
The broad sandy beach lies in front of the dunes at the southern end of the Korission area. Summer northwest wind can strengthen from midday. Water in the more sheltered nearshore area is often calmer than farther out. Southerly low-pressure systems can increase wind and surf.
More spot information
Summer NW to W winds are most reliable, often only building around midday. Several spot sources give about 10–15 kn; the source data extend to 21 kn for normal conditions. The dunes' wind shadow can make wind gusty and turbulent on the northern beach section. Strong S to SW winds in autumn and winter bring challenging waves; a typical strength is not reliably documented.
Sandy beach and mostly sandy bottom with a moderate slope. In the dunes' wind shadow, water near shore can be flat; beyond it, NW/W conditions range from flat water to chop. Strong southerly winds can produce substantial waves. The source data mention shallow reefs in the water; this has not been independently confirmed and should be checked locally.
Access via the beach at Agios Georgios Argyrades. The dunes and adjoining wetland are sensitive natural habitats; use designated access routes and do not drive on the dunes.
Source data and older spot guides mention windsurfing/kitesurfing services and rental. A current operation directly on the beach has not been independently confirmed; lessons are also offered at nearby Chalikounas. Check availability in advance.
Dunes cause local wind shadow and turbulence. Watch for bathers and beach activity in summer. The original source warns of drifting out to sea in strong wind and mentions shallow reefs; check both locally and do not go out in strong wind without suitable safety cover.
