Spot description
The strip of sand in southwestern Corfu separates the Ionian Sea from Korission Lagoon. The launch is on the sea side. In summer, a northwesterly sea breeze can strengthen from midday onwards. The sensitive wetland begins behind the beach.
More spot information
NW is the most reliable summer direction. The wind usually starts around midday and builds with the thermal breeze in the afternoon. If it turns to N, the nearby mountains can make it gusty. Sources give different typical strengths, so no single wind range in knots is recorded for the whole spot.
The launch is sandy and slopes gently. The lagoon side offers flat water, in places over a muddy bottom; on the sea side, conditions range from chop to waves in strong wind.
Launch from the sandy beach on the narrow strip of land between the open sea and Korission Lagoon.
Local sources list a kitesurfing and windsurfing station offering lessons and equipment hire. The operator last announced the end of the 2025 season; current operation has not been confirmed.
Keep swimming areas clear. The neighbouring Korission Lagoon is within a nature reserve; check current local launch rules on site. Parts of the lagoon bottom are muddy.
