Spot description
Mikros Simos is the smaller of the two bays at Cape Simos on Elafonisos. Dunes lie behind the gently sloping sandy beach. The headland between the bays affects how directly wind and waves reach the launch.
More spot information
Lets Kite describes NW/W/WNW as summer side-onshore directions, usually about 16–22 kn; within the double bay, Mikros Simos is more sheltered than Megalos Simos. Other guides associate northerly summer winds more with Pounta and W to SW fronts with the Simos area. The direction/season assignment here should therefore be treated as provisional and checked locally.
Pale sand and sandy bottom, flat to choppy near the beach. According to the guide, NW/W/WNW gives flat water to chop depending on the precise wind angle. In high summer, the beach is very busy and shared with bathers.
Access via the Simos beach area in southern Elafonisos, about 4 km from the main village. The local tourism website mentions car access and summer boat connections. Do not drive on dunes or protected areas.
The local tourism website lists beach service and lifeguards in summer. Windsurfing rental or sport-specific rescue cover at Mikros Simos has not been independently confirmed.
Expect many bathers in July and August. Wind patterns and shelter from the sandbank vary between the two bays; keep clear of swimmers and do not assume rescue cover is available.
