Spot description
The long harbour wall separates sheltered inland water from the Baltic side. E usually leaves very smooth water behind it; Baltic sandbanks can produce small to medium waves. W to NW gives speed and freestyle on the Baltic but is offshore. Inland water is more sheltered then; near the wall it can be choppy.
More spot information
East to east-northeast is best on the Baltic side, particularly east-northeast. In east wind the inland lake lies in the wall's wind shadow. West to northwest can be steady but offshore on the sea side; the inland wind area is more sheltered.
Inland water is flat to lightly choppy. The Baltic side has sandbank waves to bump-and-jump depending on wind.
Access the inland water's northern end via Großenbrode watersports school. Parking is available; use designated wall accesses for the wind and desired side.
There is a watersports school with lessons and rental, parking and food at the quay.
The exact distance to deep water is not reliably given. Check shipping and current before heading onto the Elbe.
