Spot description
Separate launches lie windward and leeward of the breakwater at Bülk lighthouse. North to northeast can bring swell breaking near shore; windward, ramps break over stony bottom. Leeward, waves run out more smoothly and entry is easier. South to southeast usually leaves small chop.
More spot information
North to northeast brings the best swell to the breakwater. South to southwest usually stays choppy; leeward, waves run out more cleanly than on the exposed windward side.
Windward of the breakwater, waves break over stony bottom; leeward, swell runs out more smoothly. South to southeast brings mostly small chop.
Entry is on both sides of the breakwater at Bülk lighthouse. Windward and leeward offer different conditions; account for the stony windward bottom and breakwater when launching and landing.
Boulders and groyne remains lie in the water, especially off the breakwater. Do not launch or ride in areas marked with swimming bans or other restrictions.
