Spot description
The large bay at Stomio has a broad beach with coarse stones. Northwesterly wind is sideshore to cross-onshore from the right: the water stays flat near the shore, while chop up to around half a metre develops further out. The more northerly the wind becomes, the gustier it gets.
More spot information
Northwesterly wind blows sideshore to cross-onshore and is strengthened by a local funnelling effect. The further the airflow turns towards north, the gustier the wind becomes; northeasterly wind is not a suitable direction.
The water by the shore stays flat in northwesterly wind; chop up to around half a metre develops further out. The broad beach has large stones and a short, shallow shoreline zone.
Parking is possible along the coastal road by the beach; access is around seven kilometres before Elafonissi. The SURF longitude of 24.5482 is probably a printing error: the text, local map and existing iWind pin point to 23.5482.
There is only a bar directly at the beach, with parking along the road. Further supplies are available in Paleochora.
Large rocks in the water and little infrastructure. The more northerly the wind, the gustier it can be; a northeasterly setup is offshore and does not work.
