More spot information
E and NE are listed as suitable directions for Simpson Bay. Recent modelled daytime monthly averages were roughly 11–15 kt, depending on the month; these are averages, not a go-ahead to launch. Check the wind, gusts and aircraft activity at the beach.
Sandy beach with a shallow nearshore section. The bay is mostly flat to choppy; stronger swell can bring waves and currents to the open coast.
The Google Maps pin at D’s Beach Bar, 34 White Sands Road, is directly behind the sandy beach. Confirm access with the local kiting operator and rig only in an approved area. The access road runs immediately beside Princess Juliana Airport.
D’s Beach Bar lists kitesurfing and courses at its Beacon Hill location; the beach area also has seating and food. Confirm lessons, equipment and the currently approved launch area with the operator in advance.
The beach is immediately beside Princess Juliana Airport and near its runway; aircraft and engine blast can be dangerous. Do not kite in the runway or flight path area. Allow for swimmers, limited dry beach at high tide and changing currents. Launch only with current local approval from the operator.
