Spot description
The outer-reef-sheltered lagoon combines mostly smooth water with sandy and locally reef-like areas. Easterly trade winds usually blow steadily; clouds can make wind gustier and it can ease farther out. Large parts are standing depth and suit manoeuvre practice.
More spot information
East to northeast trade wind is typical and usually steady in the sunny season. Clouds can make it gustier; strength often decreases farther from shore.
Sheltered flat-water lagoon with small chop in stronger wind. Bottom is mostly sandy, with isolated sharp coral blocks in the water; reef largely blocks open surf.
Public access via Pigeon Point Heritage Park, which charges admission and has fixed hours. Windsurfing access is at Radical Sports. Local launch and swimming-zone rules apply to lessons and equipment use.
Toilets, changing rooms, restaurants, lifeguards at the main beach and Radical Sports windsurfing centre with rental and lessons in the heritage park.
Footwear protects against corals and stonefish spines. Keep swimming and teaching areas clear; the outer reef protects the lagoon, but not all areas are free of reef blocks.
