Spot description
Nissakia lies at the northern end of Artemida Bay and works as a surf launch in strong Meltemi. Waves of about one to two metres can break over the offshore reef; the narrow, stony access offers little launch and landing space. The area suits experienced windsurfers with their own equipment who can handle the reef, shorebreak and limited exit safely. In strong wind, coordinate the launch zone with other watersports users.
More spot information
Strong N to NE Meltemi is most reliable. N to NE directions reach the reef sideshore to cross-onshore; surf builds as wind strengthens. Unsuitable wind directions can make returning to the narrow shore difficult.
Strong Meltemi produces surf of about one to two metres over the offshore reef. Reef slabs, large stones and shorebreak define the launch; no flat-water area is designated here.
The spot is at the northern end of Artemida Bay. Access crosses a narrow, stony beach section; observe the authorised windsurfing zone and current bathing and kite activity locally.
Restaurant Nissakia is on the cape. Watersports clubs and schools are nearby; hotels and holiday apartments are available in Artemida.
Reef, large stones, sea urchins, shorebreak, little shore space and sometimes busy kite and bathing activity. Launch only with sufficient wave experience and a safe return route.
