Spot description
The Sorobon shore opens onto a large lagoon sheltered at its entrance by an offshore reef. Water off Jibe City is very shallow and smooth, becoming much deeper farther north. The broad standing-depth area eases beachstarts, gybes and first freestyle manoeuvres.
Farther north at the small pier before Frans Paradise, water is deeper and also very smooth. This area mainly suits freestyle and foiling, plus advanced freeriders with reliable waterstarts. It works best later in the day with slightly more northerly trade wind.
More spot information
East to northeast trade wind is onshore and mostly steady. No reliable uniform knot range is documented across all seasonal months.
The sheltered, very shallow lagoon has sand, seagrass and scattered shells. The standing-depth area becomes deeper in the north.
Take Kaminda Sorobon to Jibe City windsurfing centre on the Sorobon shore. Access is directly before the centre at the water; other centres share the same beach section.
Watch seagrass, shells and the much deeper northern edge. Lac Bay is protected: surf only designated areas and do not enter mangroves or reef. The STINAPA Nature Fee is required for marine-park use. Kitesurfing is prohibited in the bay.
