More spot information
Westerlies cross open water and usually offer steadiest reaches. South can build short steep chop. North and northwest are gustier and can create outside chop; trees and buildings partly shelter shore. North Sea proximity can make wind stronger than farther inland.
Water ranges from flat to short chop by direction and lake position. Entry has shallow grass and sand shore. Reeds, stumps, shells and concrete slabs may lie underwater.
Northern paddle-and-pedal entry lies near Bedekaspel. Gravel path from parking reaches water; trolley helps carrying gear. In westerlies the nearer tourist-information entry is more practical. Southern campsite shore is not designated standard entry.
Paddle-and-pedal station and school are on north shore. Seasonal toilets and outdoor shower are at tourist information.
Water is very shallow. Reeds, stumps, shells and slabs may lie below surface. Shoes and short fin are recommended. Kleines Meer directly south is nature reserve.
