Spot description
More spot information
Northwest and west are most reliably described; northeast works especially in summer, while southeast brings strong waves and currents. Southwest is unsuitable. Do not go far out in offshore east: easing wind can quickly make returning difficult.
West and northwest give choppy water, with short waves in stronger wind. Southeast builds larger waves and currents. The shallow shore consists of sand and pebbles with some large stone slabs.
The spot is on Souniou Avenue at Agios Dimitrios. Northern Galazia Akti Beach is accessible via the coastal road; parking is limited. Check entry and local surf zone on site.
The beach section is partly organised but crowded in high summer; parking is scarce. Plan your own supplies and communication for longer sessions.
This is no beginner spot. Large stone slabs in shallow water can cause slipping or fin damage. Southeast can markedly increase currents and surf; surfers gather on the right, so ride left of them. In offshore east stay near the coast, carry GPS and communication equipment and return immediately if wind eases. Avoid southwest.
