Spot description
Sheltered Chicken Bay has a shallow sandy area around 100 m wide with knee- to waist-deep water. The surface usually stays smooth. Outside the standing-depth area, conditions range from flat to slightly choppy water. Even in midsummer, individual days above 30 kn are possible.

The northwesterly Meltemi reaches the bay. Near shore the landform weakens the wind; in July and August it can exceed 30 kn on individual days.
Fine sand and an extensive standing-depth area, usually flat water. Small chop farther out depending on wind strength.
The windsurfing centres are directly on the bay; observe designated windsurfing areas and the boundaries of teaching zones.
Windsurfing and kitesurfing lessons, equipment rental, storage, washing facilities and rescue are available. There are also parking spaces, toilets, showers, beach service, places to eat, shops and accommodation. A supermarket is in Gun Bay; medical care is available in Pigadia, around 13 km away.
Demanding above 30 kn even in the standing-depth area. Keep centre access and swimming areas clear.
