Spot description
More spot information
The trade wind is usually northeast to east during the main season and typically reaches about 11–25 kt. The best period runs from November to April, with wind often building through the afternoon.
Warm, shallow sandy lagoon with mostly smooth water. Northerly directions create chop; depth changes with the tide and can be very low in places.
Go to Hotel Vigía on the north coast of Cayo Guillermo; its beach access leads straight to the water. The checked Google Maps point is at the hotel access, about 200 m from the beach. Kiting is restricted to marked Polígono zones; check the fee, sticker and current rescue coverage with Náutica Marlin on site.
Several kite schools and watersports operators work along the hotel coast. Hotels, equipment and rescue services are provided through the individual operators.
Trade wind can be offshore to cross-offshore. Watch for reefs beyond the lagoon, very shallow sandbars, changing tide and swimmers. Launch only with valid clearance inside marked zones; beginners should use a school or arrange rescue support.
